One fine day, as he was heading back from the court to his office, Matt Reynolds got so engrossed in his conversation with his client over the headset that he didn’t observe the five year-old kid that ran right in front of his car. Although he swerved in the last time, the hood of the car had collided with the child.
He rushed the little boy to the hospital. The whole time the child’s mother held him and consoled her son, crying out inconsolably. After two days of back-to-back surgery, the child was declared to be out of danger.
During this time, he had learnt that the little boy was Ryan and his mom was a single-mother who worked as a teacher in the neighbouring Public School.
Matt tried his best to ensure that both mother and son were fine. This was the first time in a long while that he had taken two days off work in a long time. But, for the first time in a long time, he was doing something for someone other than himself. And that felt good.
